The Cape in South Africa is world renowned for a couple of things, sheer beauty, friendly people, excellent seafood and fantastic wine!

While on a trip there earlier this year we jumped at the opportunity to take a private winery tour of the Paarl, Stellenbosch and Somerset West regions with Cape with Mac, where we tasted the offerings of an excellent selection of wineries and also a craft beer brewery, but more on that in another piece this is all about the Cheetahs!

We stopped in at Cheetah Outreach where we had the incredible opportunity to spend some time up close and personal with the cheetahs they’ve taken in. On paying a nominal fee which all goes toward the upkeep of these mighty cats (and a host of other types of wild animals) you’re taken through a safety briefing and then let into a restricted tea where you’re able to sit right and pet the cat. Our Niece, Kezia and Nephew, Joel  joined us in the enclosure and we’re as enthralled with the magic of the experience.

The cat named Joseph was absolutely larger in life, with all four of us spanning his length while he lay down, breathing deeply and calmly – very relaxed with the important role he plays in allowing us a glimpse into his world.  The four of us humans very much really to run out of there in case he got a little uncomfortable…

His fur was rather soft and luxurious which was quiet surprising seeing as he lies in grass all day and I’m pretty sure he’s never conditioned!
